Senior Centers, Inc. was founded by the Community Planning Council of Northwest Ohio and incorporated by the State of Ohio in 1972. Our mission is to serve older members of the community age 60 and over, to provide an outlet for their creative talents and to allow them to pursue particular interests.

Funding for Senior Centers, Inc. is provided in part through grants from the Area Office on Aging of NWO and the Lucas County Senior Citizen tax levy.


The staff of Senior Centers, Inc. consists of an Executive Director, an Assistant Director, an Outreach/Service Coordinator, an Activities/Program Director, a Director for the Foster Grandparent program, a full time Director of Adult Day and a part time Adult Day Assistant, a van driver, a Nutrition Program coordinator (also has duties in supervising volunteer janitorial staff), and several in-home housekeepers. Senior Centers, Inc. outsources our accounting functions to the CliftonLarsonAllen accounting firm.

Senior Centers, Inc. serves as a host agency to the Senior Community Services Employment Program which trains and employs senior citizens over the age of 55 and places them in community agencies. Senior Centers, Inc. accepts several enrollees from this employment program. Senior Centers, Inc. also serves as a work training site for the Work Experience Program with Job and Family Services.

Our Governing Board of Directors is the policy making body for Senior Centers, Inc. and consists of six to eight members. The Board of Directors meets once every other month for a general meeting. The Board also holds various committee meetings as needed. Committees of the Board include: Executive, Personnel, Program Development, Finance, Nominating, Fundraising, and Foster Grandparent Advisory.
