About Us


Senior Centers, Inc. was founded by the Community Planning Council of Northwest Ohio and incorporated by the State of Ohio in 1972. Our mission is to serve older members of the community by providing programs and services that enhance their dignity, support their independence, and encourage their involvement in the community. 

Senior Centers, Inc. (SCI) programs and services are partially supported by Older Americans Act and Lucas County Senior Services Levy funds administered through the Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio, Inc., the Corporation for National and Community Service and AmeriCorps Seniors, and other local, state and federal sources. Donations to SCI for its programs and services are gratefully accepted. 

The staff of Senior Centers, Inc. consists of an Executive Director, a Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) Director, a Senior Services Director, an Activities/FGP Assistant, a Building Manager, a Receptionist, and In-home Housekeepers. Senior Centers, Inc. partners with  CLA: CliftonLarsonAllen for accounting functions.

Our Governing Board of Directors is the policy making body for Senior Centers, Inc. and consists of six to eight members. The Board of Directors meets once every other month for a general meeting. The Board also holds various committee meetings as needed. Committees of the Board include: Executive, Personnel, Program Development, Finance, Nominating, Fundraising, and Foster Grandparent Advisory.
